This season our focus was to create a website with everything we have done in the past seasons. In our website, we have our team history as well as educational videos and resources that will help our community learn. For us this is an ongoing project and we plan to make more videos in the future. The reason we set up this Google site is because we have received a lot of help from VEX VRC alumni in NZ and we want to give back to the community especially in NZ. Therefore, we contacted the NZ national manager and she told us that there will be many new teams joining in the coming seasons. So we decided to make these educational videos to help them get into VEX faster.
We’ve found that new Taiwan teams are weaker at building a robust robot with good structure and new teams from NZ are lacking resources in the programming part. Our series of tutorials will cover basic structure concepts for a competition robot as well as PROS programming. The videos will be in English but will also have Chinese subtitles to be able to help both English speaking communities and Chinese speaking communities as we have also found that Chinese robotics resources are hard to find compared to English ones.
In New Zealand, we met many people to share their knowledge and experience selflessly with us in the past few years. We learnt a lot from them, not only the robot building or programming skills, but also those life skills and values. Therefore, we hope to share our experience and pass it on to our younger members of Skywalker Robotics Club in Auckland and new friends in Taiwan. Hopefully, we can share and learn, and shine together with our wider robotic community.
